Having to decide to eat or stay warm should NOT be a decision an older person has to make. I can see forgoing buying presents for Xmas but to freeze or eat should NEVER be a choice anyone needs to make. Over here in the USA I have a electricity program that allows me to pay 10% of my monthly income for my electric bill….regardless of how much energy I use summer or winter. This is something worked out by my state and local energy company that allows folks to NOT have to choose between eating and keeping warm. Why don’t you have such a program over there? Could it be that it would take away the suffering factor that your govt seems to plan into ANY benefits they hand out?
